Positive power

With the power of positive thinking behind it, this author’s debut book has sold millions.
He’s written a book that has sold in the millions around the world and, yet, he says, “I rarely read. In the last 30 years, I may have read 25 books.”
That’s Michael J. Losier for you. He’s a doer, not a reader, a believer in the power of positive thinking. It has certainly worked for him since the very first book he ever wrote, Law of Attraction: The Science of Attracting More of What You Want and Less of What You Don’t, became an international best-seller soon after its 2003 release, is currently available in 28 languages – and, ostensibly, one is purchased every two minutes by someone, somewhere in the world!
Since writing Law of Attraction, Losier has been interviewed, on radio, more than once by uber TV talkshow host Oprah Winfrey. He has also hosted his own show on Winfrey’s radio network (Oprah Radio). These days, Losier travels the world conducting highly sought-after seminars and guiding others on how to use the principle that changed his life.
In Law of Attraction, Losier explains that every thought and feeling emits either a positive or negative vibration or energy. The “Law of Attraction”, or universal energy, will respond according to the vibration offered through these thoughts and feelings.
Losier summarises this law with this mantra: “I attract into my life whatever I give my energy, attention and focus to, whether positive or negative”.
His clear and concise explanations have led to him being known as the “how to” guy for the Law of Attraction. Losier doesn’t purport to be the inventor of the theory but says he learned about it two decades ago, mainly from books that were written in the early part of the 20th century.
Earlier this year, Losier released a second book called Law of Connection: The Science of Using NLP to Create Ideal Personal and Professional Relationships. He says he felt compelled to write it when seminar attendees and readers of his first book began approaching him for advice on improving their communication skills. They were keen to learn how he successfully connected with people from vastly differing backgrounds and cultures.
In an e-mail interview, Losier reveals that his training in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) during his days as a project manager lies behind his boundless communication capabilities – “I connect well with people. I rarely have any miscommunication or conflict.”
According to Losier, NLP is essentially the study of human behaviour and communication: “What turns people on or off, what motivates them and how to connect and communicate with all types of people.”
It took Losier six months to finish his second book and he had to do it in between teaching and travelling. Fortunately, a large chunk of the background research on the subject was already at hand. “All the data and information in the book came from my training notes that I have been using for eight years,”
Through careful study of his notes, Losier has concluded that a single focal element separates good communication from bad. “It’s all about rapport,” he says. “When the rapport is not there or the rapport is broken there is little to no connection.”
In essence, Losier’s new book is a step-by-step guide on how to maintain rapport through effective communication.
Before his emergence as a tremendously successful personality in the self-help scene, Losier worked as a project manager with the Canadian Government. He believes his success can be traced back to the code he adheres to. “When I transitioned out of my government job I used the Law of Attraction to attract speaking engagements and clients … it worked well.”
Losier, 47, grew up in New Brunswick in eastern Canada and remembers a calm and gentle childhood. “I spent a lot of time with myself. I was different from the other kids, I was more internal and quiet and very positive.”
As a child, Losier saw himself growing up to be a teacher, an aspiration that has become a reality, though in a more non-conventional way – he now coaches scores of people in his seminars and training courses. “I wanted to be a teacher, a traditional one but this is more fun – teaching personal growth to mostly adults.”
Losier hopes to help as many people as possible through his books and seminars and conducts training courses on the Law of Attraction to spread the word further.
“My main focus with the Law of Attraction is to train others to teach and deliver it through their own seminars. I have certified 127 people from 11 countries.”
So far, Losier has certified eight trainers from Malaysia and is pleased that they have opened a Law of Attraction centre in Kuala Lumpur. “They are an eager and ambitious group and are supporting many people and corporations in the use and application of the Law of Attraction in their personal and business lives.”
Like many others who write self-help books, Losier has his share of detractors. His first book has sometimes been dismissed as a passing fad or, worse, new age “mumbo jumbo”.
Unperturbed, the “how to” guy sticks by what he believes. “I don’t attract them (the sceptics) and it’s okay if they think that. I did not write it for them. I wrote it for people who want to learn more about the Law of Attraction.”

Nichols: Achieve your goals ‘no matter what’

by Kathy Chaney
You’ve set goals for yourself, only to have them deferred, stomped on or watered down. You’ve looked for others to bring you through without realizing the onus is on you. Developing a “no matter what” mindset is the key to “non-negotiable” goals, according to life coach and best-selling author Lisa Nichols.
Nichols remembered when all her goals were negotiable, starting back in her high school years. She learned in her teen years to love herself first, realize that mistakes would be made, but to forgive herself.
As she matured and began to gain more control of her life, a “no matter what” mindset was born, she said, referring to the title of her recently released book.
“It was understanding what my life looked like when all my goals were negotiable, when all my goals were optional. It was recognizing how I felt when I sat in the space of worry, doubt, victim and concern. It didn’t feel good and I wasn’t ready to commit a lifetime to that experience,” Nichols told the Defender.
Nichols, the founder of Motivating the Masses and CEO of Motivating the Teen Spirit, LLC, is described by her peers as “The Breakthrough Specialist.” She regularly holds transformational workshops that has reached more than one million adults and thousands of teens. She has appeared on various television shows, including The Oprah Winfrey Show, Extra, Larry King Live, and Starting Over, and has penned two Chicken Soup for the Soul books.
In December she will spread more of her motivational advice on the Women Entertainment cable channel. Her new weekly, yet-to-be titled reality-based show will center around helping women turn a breakdown into a breakthrough. Several episodes have already been shot, she said.
“Most of us don’t realize that we’ve unconsciously allowed our goals to be negotiable and optional. A ‘no matter what’ mindset means you’ve taken every other option off the table except hitting the mark. When you take on that mindset, you actually begin to pick up speed, you move with more velocity. You move with more certainty and more aggression. It’s a positive aggression and you become a force of nature to be reckoned with,” said Nichols.
Always following God is key, however, realizing the power you possess and knowing you are the answer to your problems is essential to any breakthrough, the life coach said, referencing an “ah-ha” moment in her life.
“Each time I looked at my problems, I looked for the answer and realized that I was my answer. When I learned how to love Lisa, treat Lisa and set boundaries and ask for what I need, all of a sudden I became an example. I became a permission slip for other girls to do it. I found my own rhythm, and when I did I felt better as a teenager and as a woman,” she said.
“My rhythm was mine and it was perfect. That was a huge liberation for me. I had to give myself permission to make mistakes and to forgive myself quicker. That was key for me. I wasn’t going to hold myself hostage to guilt, shame, blame and regret. That could last a lifetime. I had to be willing to give myself a lifetime of something better than that,” said Nichols.
Nichols will host a workshop in Chicago Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Marriott hotel near Midway Airport, 6520 S. Cicero Ave.

Develop a Clear Law of Attraction Vision to Boost Your Law of Attraction Results!

The one trait that all very successful solo-preneurs, coaches, consultants, healers, and spiritual teachers have in common is that they have a clear and compelling vision for the future of their businesses. This is something that you can do too. You can think about the future and create an attraction plan and a big vision for the future. We create an attraction plan in our Law of Attraction results programs for our clients. In the meantime, you can start thinking about how you would like your future business and sales to look and feel like.
I would encourage you to take the time to think about your future and be more deliberate about where you are going to end up. In this economy you need to take the time to think through and craft a clear picture of where you want your practice to be in the next five years. When you have the ability to communicate this vision in a clear way, others will jump on board with you and start to help make your vision a reality. This vision becomes a blueprint for you to make all of your decisions from.
When you have a clear vision about the future possibilities in your business, it motivates you to give your very best so that you can reach your goals. You work from your values, and are more fulfilled. The business and clients that you attract sense that you are aimed at providing unparalleled value, service and caring and attention. The side benefit is that it will create connection, loyalty, and trust with your clients and co-workers. And more sales!
Of course, sales and money is important, but the choice and commitment to “be the unparalleled best in the business” is a compelling vision.
The fastest way to have a rapid movement towards your vision is to have the ability to perform well under many demands, and particularly in emergencies. By remaining calm, practicing patience and self-discipline under tough or disappointing situations you will be more likely to stay on course. The bigger the vision, the bigger the challenges and the bigger the outcome!
In your business, your clients, mentors, and competition are watching how you handle business and all that comes with being solo-preneurs. Your character is often very transparent in those critical moments of challenges in your business, when everybody is watching, observing and making a mental note. To attract more of what you want to move closer to your vision, and to keep your cool when things go wrong I would encourage you to practice the art of unparalleled value, service and caring and attention.
Here are two things you can do now:
Picture where you want to be in the next 5 years in your business. Aim big, and push through your comfort zone. Remember the saying “Be careful what you ask for, you may get it.” If you stay inside your comfort zone, you may never know what is on the other side of the box that you are in. What does it look like? What do you hear happening? What will you feel like when you have fulfilled your vision? What inspired actions can you take right away to start turning your future vision into your present reality?
Decide in advance that, no matter what happens, you will remain cool as a cucumber. Remain relaxed and reliable while focusing on unparalleled value, service and caring and attention. Hang on to your hat!

Abraham Hicks: Shift Your Point of Attraction

I am currently reading the book, Money, and the Law of Attraction: Learning to Attract Wealth, Health, and Happiness by Esther and Jerry Hicks. There’s a great wealth of knowledge and just came across this and wanted to share. Hopefully it will give you the ‘Ah ha’ moment I’m searching for.
“By softening your attention to the things that are going wrong, and beginning to tell stories that lean more in the direction of what you want instead of in the direction of what you have got, your vibration will shift, your point of attraction will shift, and you will get different results. And in a short time, because of the different results you are then getting, you will then have beliefs or knowledge of abundance that will easily perpetuate more of the same. Look for reasons to feel good. Identify what you want - and hold your thoughts in a place that feels good.”

Is Fear of Failing Sabotaging Your Relationship Dreams?
October 8, 2009 by admin

By: Dawn Allen
Does it feel like your dream of having a wonderful relationship is beyond your grasp? Is the fear of having another failed relationship holding you back from even trying?
When I’m having a difficult time moving forward, it’s usually because underneath all my excuses, I’m afraid. Fear can be paralyzing… fear of doing the wrong thing, fear of taking a risk, fear of trying and not succeeding. It keeps us stuck.
Fear can be so debilitating, it can completely sabotage our dreams. If we don’t take a chance and step into our fears, we’ll always live with the question “What if…?”
Most of my fears are caused by my own limiting beliefs. Do I really have what it takes to create a successful relationship? Can I really attract the kind of partner I want? What if I pick the wrong person and end up getting hurt?
The problem is I’m not always aware of those limiting beliefs. But once I’m able to see my “blind spots” of where I’m keeping myself stuck, I can start to change. From then on, when I feel the fear, I know it’s just old limiting beliefs and I can work through them one by one to let them go.
If we never try, we never fail… but we also never succeed.I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed, isolated, and frustrated because of my fears holding me back.
But now, when I’m faced with a challenge, I ask myself…
What would I do if I wasn’t afraid…?
Answer that question with whatever comes into your mind and see where it takes you, just let it flow.
If you get stuck, try putting your hand over your heart while you ask the question to put you back in touch with your center of emotion.
I always find something very important for me to learn behind the answer to that question… I discover where I’m stuck and afraid to face change.
Leaving fear behind frees up endless possibilities in life. Only then can we start to create a relationship and life we truly love.
You deserve to have the relationship and the life of your dreams. If fear is holding you back, know that once you take that first step and face your fear, the Universe will provide the answers for you to start moving forward to make your dreams come true.
Step out in faith. You’ll discover you have what it takes to move past all your fears, and attract the love of your life and create a life you love.

Why strange things happen in our life

By Jaime Licauco
REGULAR reader Lito sought answers to some puzzling events he couldn’t explain. First, his youngest son damaged the fender of their van while getting out of the garage.
He wished another vehicle would hit the same fender so it could be repaired at some other person’s expense. After a few months, his other son hit another van in their subdivision and he ended up paying double.
Second, a friend invited him to Tagaytay for a birthday party. He didn’t feel like going, so he thought he would make an excuse by saying he was sick or an accident happened that day. True enough, on the way home from buying a gift for the friend, a 10-year-old boy suddenly crossed the street, hit the side of his car and he had to be hospitalized. He paid for the hospitalization of the boy.
The third incident happened again to his youngest son. He hit this time a passenger jeepney and damage to their vehicle was substantial. His son suffered whiplash injury and was paralyzed. This time he did not wish an accident to happen, but it did. He asked why.
Here are my replies to your questions:
Our thoughts are more powerful than we think without our realizing it. Thoughts become physical realities after a while.
There are two hidden laws of nature that are pertinent to your question:
1. The Law of Affirmation or Suggestion, which says “What you suggest or affirm in your mind manifests in physical reality.
2. The Law of Attraction which says, “Like attracts like on the mental and spiritual plane.”
Conscious vs subconscious
How come that even if you are not thinking of an accident, even if you don’t want it to happen, it still happens?
I believe this may be due to a conflict between our conscious and subconscious minds. Our conscious mind does not want it to happen, but our subconscious mind sees it otherwise. There is a conflict between the conscious and the subconscious mind. And when there’s a conflict between the two, the subconscious mind always wins, unless it has been programmed to obey the conscious mind. That’s the reason we have always been admonished or advised to think positive thoughts all the time.
The very popular book written by Rhonda Byrne called “The Secret” explains the mechanics or workings of this law in our everyday life. The book sold over a million copies during the first three months it came off the press.
Unfortunately, the book only dealt with how to get material possessions through the law of affirmation and attraction. It did not deal with the other two equally important hidden laws of nature, namely the Law of Compensation, which says “Whatever you do will come back to you,” and the Law of Causality, which says, “Nothing happens by accident, everything has a cause.”
Understanding of these four hidden laws of nature will help us to understand better why things happen the way they do in our life.

Pre-pave your day with positive energy

Having a bad day? Think positive, says author Elisabeth Fayt.
Most people spend more time worrying about what to wear in the morning, she says, than they spend thinking about what they want to accomplish.
But a happy, successful life is within reach; you just have to plan for it.

“Decide what you want,” she says.
“Prepare it. Seal the deal with gratitude. Let it go.”
Those simple changes — thinking positive, giving thanks — are enough to align the universe in your favour, Fayt says.
“Nothing can come to us until we are grateful for what we have.” Fayt knows a thing or two about achievement and the law of attraction. She’s an internationally respected motivational speaker, author and the founder of RNR Wellness, a successful national chain of spas that focus on in-room hotel service. She recently released her first book, Paving It Forward: 120 Pre-Paves That Will Put You in the Passing Lane (Spirit Seekers Publishing, spiritseekerspublishing.com,$19.95), a guide for “consciously choosing how you want to look, live and feel through every part of your day and every part of your life.” (She also offers a deck of cards with the book’s teachings in a condensed form.) The concept of “paving” and “preparing” is the idea of proactively planning one’s day — how you’ll feel, what will happen — before the day’s activities literally unfold, says Fayt, who appeared in the documentary, The Opus, a film about how to manifest change in one’s life.
Fayt, 45, says she prepares her entire day before she even opens her eyes in the morning.
“As I get in the car, I prepare safety,” she says.
“When I go on a date with my husband, I prepare that we will have a wonderful time.”
Hard to believe it’s so easy? It shouldn’t be, says Fayt, especially if you’re one of those people — and there are many of us — who wake up at precisely the same time every day, before our alarm goes off.
“The fact that we can wake our bodies at a certain time every day is living proof that we can control our subconscious minds,” she says.
“Just as you can stop biting your nails, you can stop negative thoughts.”
Fayt has been interested in the power of prayer and spirituality since she was a small child growing up in Waterloo, Ont. Part of a devout Catholic family, she went to church every day and considered becoming a nun. (She gave her first motivational speech in church at the age of eight.) She completed a degree in psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University, and then was drawn toward the knowledge of Indian mystics, in particular the work of Paramahansa Yogananda, a man who she describes as her spiritual teacher.
“That gave me the background, the philosophy that our thoughts create our reality,” she says.
She spent several years in India, but returned to Canada when she realized her life was meant to be about serving others.
These days, that means speaking at retreats and seminars around the world — often with her family in tow.
“I go where people need me,” she says.
Following that spirit, however, is what has made her so successful, she says. And now she wants to pass on what she has learned to others.
“Every dream I have ever had has come true,” she says. “And everyone can have that.”
